Teignmouth Baby Bank

Helping local families in the Teignmouth area who are
finding it difficult to buy basic baby clothing, supplies and equipment.

ABOUT

Teignmouth Baby Bank is an initiative of North Teignmouth Community Church offering free support to those struggling to access basic baby supplies.

We started in 2020 and have operated over the lockdown period and continue to offer help and support with clothing and equipment for children aged 0-2 years old.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We accept referrals from health visitors, GPs, social workers, local children’s centres,
nurseries, schools and other agencies.

Once a referral has been accepted, we will contact the family directly to discuss
what is needed and to arrange an appointment for collection or delivery.

Following the initial contact, any further requests for equipment / next size baby clothes,
may be made directly by the family.
We aim to meet requests, but this is subject to stock availability.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

The baby bank is a free service to the community. We rely on donations of good quality clothing
and items of equipment. All items of clothing are sorted and washed by a team of laundry helpers.

All items of donated equipment are cleaned and checked before being issued.
Items such as Cot/Crib mattresses are purchased new using baby bank funds.

We have gratefully received donations of nappies, baby toiletries and
weaning equipment from local supermarkets.

We are also grateful for financial support received from North Teignmouth Community Church,
local businesses and individuals.

WHAT TO DONATE

We are grateful for the following items:

•       Pushchair / Buggy / Stroller / Pram

•       Highchair / Baby Chair

•       Stairgate

•       Moses Baskets & Cots / Cribs (& bedding)

•       Play Gym

•       Play Mat

•       Baby Toys - 0-6 months (not battery operated)

•       Clothing, Blankets and Growbags (good quality & clean). Nappies (not the smallest sizes) are always needed, along with socks, tights, and vests up to 2 years. 

WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE:

•       Baby bouncers or walkers

•       Battery operated toys

•       Electrical item such as bottle warmers or breast pumps

SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT

The baby bank is an initiative of North Teignmouth Community Church (Charity No: 1152684)
which is committed to the safeguarding of children & vulnerable adults.
A copy of the church safeguarding policy is available on request.

The baby bank is coordinated and run by a team of volunteers.
Deliveries are made by prior appointment with a named volunteer
who has undergone a DBS check.
