MEET OUR TEAMS

North Teignmouth Community Church is led by an Eldership Team - based on the early Christian church model of plural leadership.

Meet our Elders:

Ray Hodgson Elder

Ray Hodgson is married to Joy, with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Christian since he was 13, Ray has previously been involved in different roles in other Churches including Youth Work, House Groups and Deacon. God's ability to be his constant companion and guide is a strong part of Ray’s Christian experience. Because of that, he has a passionate desire to reach those who have fallen foul of the world's problems with the good news of the love of Jesus. In his own journey of faith, God has been a faithful provider through many difficult circumstances. That has stimulated Ray to head up the Church's 'Making a Difference' work which helps serve needy people, mainly those who are not church attendees.

John Kelly Elder

John Kelly is married to Lorraine and has four children and ten grandchildren. They have lived in Teignmouth since 1985. John taught mathematics for forty years, and before retiring was at Trinity School in Teignmouth for many years. John became a Christian at age 32, largely due to the witness of Christian pupils at Teignmouth Grammar School. Since then he has been a member of Chudleigh Parish Church, Teignmouth Baptist Church and now North Teignmouth Community Church.

ruth updated imageI have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. I grew up in a Christian home, went to Girl’s Brigade and then became a lieutenant for 25 years before moving into work at a Church youth group for a few years. Then I went back to Girl’s Brigade as an auxiliary helper. I ran a local Church’s creche for over 30 years and assisted for 5 years at my daughter’s mother and toddler group.  I have been a volunteer Appropriate Adult (attending 2 Police custody centres to sit with children/vulnerable adults when they were being interviewed). I then went on to be a volunteer with Victim Support and am now volunteering as a befriender with Volunteering in Health and also 2 hours a week sit with an elderly lady with medical problems to enable her husband to have time out on his own.
